This position is in the Energetics and Propulsion Department of the Mechanical Subsystems Directorate.This organization is responsible for the full spectrum of warhead fuzing, rocket motor ignition and all other weapon initiation safety systems technology.Develop architectures, top level design concepts and requirements for new safety system needs.

Note:This position can be Salary Grade G07 (Electrical Engineer II) or Salary Grade G08 (Sr. Electrical Engineer I) based upon the applicant’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements of the position.


The successful candidate will:

· Apply or develop advanced fuzing technologies using scientific principles, theories and concepts to the weapon initiation systems for implementation into missile systems and space vehicles

· Provide technical oversight to the subcontractor

· Review and disposition of subcontract data and change requests; preparing and presenting data to management, government agencies; and project cost account management

· Support the Safety Engineering organization by performing insensitive munitions and safety analyses and as needed and coordinate with the Government safety review boards

· Frequently interface with the Customer to identify user needs

· Manage the subcontract suppliers to specify and deliver required subsystem components on schedule and on budget

· Develop initial safety system architectures and top level designs

· Design, analyze, test and evaluate safety systems

· Perform subcontract oversight

· Develop Statements-of-Work (SOWs)

· Develop Critical Item Development Specifications (CIDS)

· Support fact-finding and contract negotiations

· Test data reduction

· Generate fuze performance data files for use in performance assessments and requirements compliance

· Supporting the generation of safety analyses as required to support safety organization requests

· Ensure technical rigor and depth of all deliverables

Required Experience and Skills:

Minimum of two (2) years of circuit design and analysis

Must have demonstrated knowledge of:

Engineering design experience in development projects

Design or analysis of Electronic Circuits

Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Power Point & Project) Experience

Project Management as applied to team interaction and deliverables

Must be willing to travel to suppliers and government facilities

Must currently have or be able to obtain a DoD issued Secret security clearance

Education Requirement, including major:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics

Desired Experience and Skills:

Two (2) years of directly related experience in fuzing and safety subsystems
Four (4) years of circuit design and analysis

Experience in the technical management of subcontracts on Government programs

Project engineering skills and experience using Earned Value Management System

Knowledge of P-Spice Simulation

Demonstrated knowledge and application of Initiation and Firing Train Design, Analysis and testing

Energetic Subsystem Integration and Advanced Technologies (EFIs, Multipoint Initiation, Hard Target Survivability, etc)
An advanced engineering degree

Desired to have demonstrated knowledge of:
Ordnance Manufacturing Process Technologies
Safety Subsystem Design & Analyses
Insensitive Munitions mitigation technology (design, materials)

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
