National Grid is hiring a Lead Training Rep, Control Ctr. for our UNY Regional Control Centers, Control Center Operations department in CRCC, Liverpool, NY, HCB3. Alternative locations include the WRCC, Buffalo, NY and the ERCC, Altamont, NY.

The Training Representative is responsible to design, develop, maintain, and administer Distribution Control Center System Operator training utilizing a systematic approach that will provide, maintain and enhance the Distribution Control Center System Operator skills, knowledge, and ability to perform their jobs correctly, safely, and reliably. This position will focus on the delivery of technical, safety and regulatory training to Distribution System Operators.
Ensure all Distribution System Operators meet or exceed regulatory requirements for training duration and subject matter
content in accordance with the position progression, OSHA, and NERC requirements
Develop and conduct training courses for Distribution System Operators including lesson plans, presentations, and assessments.
Supplement formal class room training delivery with hands on activities and scenarios that simulate real tasks performed in their jobs.
Maintain auditable training files and data including attendance records, training materials, etc.
Evaluate and modify existing training programs and materials incorporating new equipment, systems, technologies, and procedures to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements.
Train, develop, mentor and coach new Distribution System Operators
Participate in incident analysis, committees, and presentations.
Represent National Grid on various industry committees related to training.
Minimum of three years’ experience as an electric control center system operator with demonstrated expertise in switching techniques, station trouble analysis and relay and control systems.
Understanding of National Grid's Clearance & Control Rules, OSHA 1910.269(d), (m), (n), and (o), and/or an equivalent
Electric Utility T&D Switching & Tagging procedure and the switching, tagging, and grounding procedures associated with their application.
Basic design and construction knowledge of electric overhead and underground transmission/distribution systems, substations and power generation.
Knowledge of electrical apparatus, application, operation, and construction practices
Practical knowledge of Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Outage Management Systems (OMS).
Clearance & Control Authorized or obtain authorization within 6 months.
Excellent oral and written communication skills including active listening and presentation skills.
Must have strong interpersonal skills, be able to perform in a team environment, collaborate with others, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Understanding of training and development principles.
Working knowledge of personal computers and various business related software such as Power Point, Excel, and Word.
Supervisory experience and/or advanced education in Engineering, Education, or a related field are considered a plus.
