Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.
Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is REQUIRED at time of hire. Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Network Engineer to join the TCS team. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge equipment and systems that support some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to build and further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technologies. The Network Engineer provides technical analysis in data network planning, engineering and design, and implements techniques and tools to improve the network. Engineers coordinate with all players to provide maintenance and troubleshoot hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as switches, routers, and firewalls. This individual is also responsible for network requirements definitions, network evaluations, network critical item tests, in addition to configuring and troubleshooting Domain Name Services and Network Time Protocol applications on the network.
• Experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting routers, switches and firewalls
• Experience with vendor network hardware solutions (i.e. Cisco, HP, Foundry)
• Hands on experience with OSPF, Static Routes, VLANs, L3 VLAN interfaces, ACLs, Multicast, PIM Dense and PIM Sparse, QoS fundamentals and application
• Knowledge of Linux networking
• Strong comfort level with command line interface (not GUI interfaces)
• Knowledge of Network Security (RADIUS, TACACS+)
• Ability to travel
