Job Description:

The Airborne Multimode Radar Product Line, part of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems Mission Area in Raytheon Space & Airborne Systems, seeks a Senior Technical Leader to be responsible for aircraft subsystem development and design for Special Mission Aircraft (SMA) international pursuits and programs.The position will reside in the Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) within the RF Sensors and Radomes Department.

Job Related Activities:

  • Lead and own the design, documentation, and implementation of SMA subsystems required to support mission equipment such as power and cooling
  • Actively work with SMA Program Management, Systems Engineering, and Customers to develop and manage subsystem objectives and requirements
  • Create and lead an SMA Subsystems Engineering Team to successfully design and document subsystem solutions to meet SMA program objectives and requirements
  • Develop forced air and liquid cooling solutions for installations of high powered airborne mission equipment
  • Lead the management of subcontractors required for the development of SMA equipment and related subsystems
  • Lead the management of platform modifications required for the implementation of SMA equipment and related subsystems
  • Comply with Export/Import (EX/IM) regulations and policies and support Jurisdiction Classification Assessments (JCAs) as needed
  • Ensure the consistent application of engineering best practice and that all activities undertaken under your control are conducted to common standards in accordance with Raytheon's IPDS processes
  • Must be able to support significant amounts of domestic and international work travel
  • Lead SMA Subsystems proposal development activity for $1B+ prospective program.
  • Lead SMA Subsystems Engineering team during flight test planning, execution, and reporting.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 12 years of professional experience in the industry
  • Subject matter expert in the modification of airborne platforms for Intelligence, Reconnaissance, and Surveillance (ISR) systems
  • Subject matter expert in the design and deployment of forced air and liquid cooling subsystems for airborne equipment
  • Experience with the modification of multiple aircraft platforms
  • Experience with flight certification requirements for FAA and/or NAVAIR
  • Experience with customer engagements, excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with EX/IM regulations and working policies
  • Ability to lead and manage a multi-discipline design team to successfully execute tasks and deliver high quality work products
  • Must be able to travel both domestic and internationally
  • Must be US Citizen, with an active DoD secret clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in the use of CAD software packages PTC/CREO and CATIA V5
  • Experience with Raytheon Robust Design practices or equivalent
  • Experience with Agile product development methodologies
  • Experience with Model Based Definition (MBD) design documentation
  • PE license
  • Professional society participation (ASME, SAE, other)

Required Education:

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, and minimum 12 years of related experience

Desired Education:

M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment
