National Grid is hiring a Lead Data Analyst, Transmission Generation Energy Procurement for our Waltham, MA location.
Reporting to the Director of Business Planning & Performance within the Transmission, Generation and Energy Procurement (TGEP) Business Unit (the “BU”), this key position provides analytical and operational support to the BU. Among other things, this role: (1) supports the delivery of positive financial results and regulatory outcomes in line with the BU targets and capital plan; (2) demonstrates understanding of the key business drivers that impact the BU strategy and performance to make recommendations and directs people in resolving complex business problems; (3) supports development of key strategic business documents; and (4) works collaboratively with the BU leaders and other key stakeholders to foster positive stakeholder engagement and address key business issues.
Assess and report on key business risks and opportunities concerning to the BU, including, but not limited to, key regulatory, market, and technology shifts.
Lead in research activities and provide detailed analysis and evaluation of existing and emerging regulatory and policy initiatives in the wholesale electric and natural gas sectors.
Lead in the area of data analytics.
Proactively support the BU senior leader with informational and industry research needs.
Work cross-functionally to help deliver positive financial results and regulatory outcomes in line with the BU targets and capital plan.
Support the development and implementation of policy advanced by the BU leadership.
Collaborate with the BU leaders and other stakeholders on key business initiatives.
Support the development of comprehensive, sustainable growth strategy and the BU investment plan.
Lead in the development of key strategic and annual business documents, e.g., Strategic Business Plan.
Cultivate successful working relationships with colleagues to ensure consistent operational performance in key areas (e.g., finance, process, regulatory, strategy, and information systems).
Ensure sustained presence at and visibility into FERC, ISOs, and industry groups to further policy and advocacy objectives.
Lead in supporting development of consistent messaging around key policy issues (e.g., gas capacity, large-scale renewables, electric transportation, future utility business models, greenhouse gas reductions (80x50), renewable natural gas, etc.).
Support execution and refinement of transmission business strategy for creating the most intelligent network.
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, or marketing. Master’s or MBA preferred.
7+years of relevant work experience.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Experience in dealing with executives preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work well across company functions, including with staff from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience.
Strategic planning, project management, risk identification, presentation, and reporting.
Wholesale electric/gas policy issues.
Demonstrated ability to develop hypotheses, structure research and gather information to test hypotheses, and, present well-supported conclusions and recommendations.
Electric and gas utility operations; transmission knowledge/experience a plus.
Independently leading projects and managing multiple tasks.
Leading and influencing others.
