Salary Scale - Level 7 - £40,000 - £50,000
The Occupational Health Specialist Adviser works within National Grid’s professional team of health and wellbeing specialists in SHS. Accountable for the design and delivery of a range of occupational health programmes and policies aligned to the overall company health strategy and risks. The role focusses on improving line managers and employees understanding and opportunity to maintain and improve occupational health, as well as understanding immerging occupational health risks within the organisation and offering a risk based approach to reducing the potential realisation of those identified risks.
In addition, the role is responsible for managing the day to day aspects of the Occupational Health Provision, including ensuring compliance with occupational health legislation through the provision of health surveillance.
- Centre of excellence within National Grid for Occupational Health and wellbeing issue and programmes and best practice.
- Develop and deliver the strategy for the provision of occupational health and wellbeing services, policies, standards and high level procedures to National Grid ensuring they deliver legislative requirements, business needs and value.
- Effectively manage the Occupational Health and Wellbeing service providers and use their expertise to support the development of tools to measure health and wellbeing performance and assist in the analysis of data to add insight into the conclusions drawn
- Design and monitor the delivery of the health surveillance programme through the occupational health service provider and help identify and deliver new and innovative approaches to the management of employee’s occupational health risks and wellbeing in the workplace.
- Support in the delivery of a sustained culture change programme for wellbeing by working in partnership with the health and wellbeing team, health charities and other organisations to improve the way health and wellbeing issues are addressed within National Grid.
- Active identification and interpretation of emerging requirements which may impact on the business.
- Work with the other Health and Wellbeing centres of excellence to develop a clear direction and effective programmes for helping to identify and manage work related or work impacting health issues through risk assessment, training and support.
- Work closely with occupational health, rehabilitation and employee assistance providers to provide a collaborative, innovative and co-ordinated programme of support and improvement.
- Working with the SHS Reporting team to help develop and maintain a range of measures and key performance indicators that helps inform our performance in managing Occupational Health and wellbeing. Analyse trends and draw conclusions from these metrics to inform the business of future priorities and improvement areas.
- Provide information and advice to key stakeholders.
- Represent National Grid’s Health and Wellbeing Team at internal and external events as required
- To work with the Insurance teams, HR Cases team and use MI from IMS and as provided from our Occupational Health Providers to ensure we are monitoring and reviewing our immerging risks, with regards to (physical / mental / occupational) health risk. Use this data to set risk based programs to focus on elimination, or reduction, of the potential for those risks to be realised.
You will have: 3 years’ experience of delivering occupational health programmes, ideally within a corporate setting.
Engaging and influencing senior management, line managers, employee representatives and other specialist to support in designing and adopting new health and wellbeing programmes.
Evaluating, analysing and reviewing the effectiveness of occupational health programmes.
Evaluating, analysing and reviewing business occupational health risks to deliver a risk based approach.
NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or NEBOSH National Certificate in Health and Safety
NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
