The Advanced Test Systems Engineering Center (ATSEC) is an organization within the Systems Test Directorate comprised of five departments and an engineering population of approximately 550 people, and over $350M per year of delivered products. The ATSEC organization has the responsibility to grow and sustain the Systems Engineering competencies throughout all test activities, and to make test more affordable, credible, agile, and robust.

Within ATSEC, the Advanced Engineering Prototyping (AEP) Department has the responsibility to provide rapid engineering material acquisition, fabrication, and prototyping solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle.


Job Description
The candidate will guide and participate on engineering teams performing complex electronic or electromechanical design, development and integration of RMS advanced programs within the Advanced Engineering Prototyping (AEP) Department - The Bike Shop. As such, the candidate will be responsible for architecting entire system solutions providing analysis based imaginative, thorough, and predictable technical solutions to electronic or electromechanical prototype product development systems. Typical work involves the complete design cycle in addition to construction and checkout of engineering prototypes, as well as compiling and reporting resulting data.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.


Required Skills:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • A minimum of six (6) years’ experience in electromechanical systems engineering, analysis, complex design and integration of hardware
  • Experience in architecting a full system solution given minimal requirements and direction
  • Experience in proposal development and providing cost estimates for new product development
  • Knowledge of Windows platform and Microsoft office tools (e.g., Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)


Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Remote Control systems (UAS, RC airplanes, model rockets, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable about Aeronautical systems
  • The candidate must have the ability to demonstrate creativity and ingenuity in designing for complex problems, requiring minimal assistance
  • Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience working in an integrated team environment
  • Experience with Altium Designer software suite or comparable products
  • Experience with CREO Parametric or comparable CAD modeling products
  • Experience applying GD&T methods
  • Experience as an Integrated Product Team Leader (IPTL)
  • Project management training


Required Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, STEM or a related discipline

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
