The Advanced Test Systems Engineering Center (ATSEC) is an organization within the Systems Test Directorate comprised of five departments and an engineering population of approximately 550 people, and over $350M per year of delivered products. The ATSEC organization has the responsibility to grow and sustain the Systems Engineering competencies throughout all test activities, and to make test more affordable, credible, agile, and robust.

Within ATSEC, the Advanced Engineering Prototyping (AEP) Department has the responsibility to provide rapid engineering material acquisition, fabrication, and prototyping solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle.


Job Description:
Selected individual will provide detailed design, development and integration of advanced engineering prototypes. Apply complex principles to solve electronic interface problems and design electronic circuitry / software associated with the development of various prototype products. The candidate must have the ability to work with teams and provide technical skills in a multidiscipline team environment. Individual will be expected to investigate solutions for problems that are innovative and ingenious. Individual will also participate in design reviews, providing technical solutions utilizing the application of technical standards, principles, theories, and concepts. Translate customer requirements to hardware implementations with a willingness to utilize existing designs as a starting point.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.



Required Skills:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in detailed design and integration of prototype hardware
  • Proficient working knowledge of Altium Designer including schematic capture, PWB layout and signal integrity
  • Experience performing detailed electronic circuit design
  • Individual must be able to develop hardware interfaces using analog and digital circuitry
  • Individual must have a working knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems and networking
  • Knowledge of Windows platform and Microsoft office tools (e.g., Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)
  • Experience troubleshooting, testing and integrating test equipment

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with UAS or Remote Control systems (RC airplanes, model rockets, etc.)
  • Demonstrated success working in small teams
  • Demonstrate creativity and ingenuity in designing for complex problems
  • Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience working in an integrated team environment
  • Experience in design, development, evaluation and testing of complex level circuit boards
  • Experience in a collaborative teaming environment
  • Experience with configurable logic devices including FPGA's
  • Working knowledge of VHDL/Verilog firmware language tools

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a directly related discipline

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
