About the role

Reporting into the Service Experience & Business Delivery Manager, the Occupied Estate Surveyor is responsible for formulating and driving a medium to long-term Workplace Services strategy that efficiently delivers the accommodation requirements of National Grid while ensuring best value and high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Manage the Workplace Services estates plan and planning process, ensuring that short, medium and long-term plans are created and implemented that reflect and flow from the overarching Workplace Services strategy.
  • Lead on the acquisition and divestment of premises – both freehold and leasehold – for and by National Grid businesses in-line with the estates plan and Workplace Services strategy, ensuring maximum return / minimum spend for National Grid.  
  • Manage the ongoing lease obligations of the occupied estate, delivering property accommodation solutions in the best interests of the regulated entities.

About you

  • Extensive knowledge of Corporate Real Estate and land management,
  • Experience and knowledge of Property valuation.
  • Knowledge of Landlord and Tennant law.
  • Knowledge Local authority planning requirements.
  • Substantial track record of successfully developing high-quality property strategies and plans for a large, complex organisation often with competing needs.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering continuous improvement within a property management environment to support best value and fit for purpose solutions for customers
  • A good understanding of the wider National Grid business and the ability to develop and influence a key network of influential stakeholders. 
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate and influence across a range of levels throughout Workplace Services and across the wider National Grid teams with the ability to build networks both internally and externally.
  • Excellent experience at working collaboratively across regional and virtual teams in a highly-regulated environment to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Degree-level education and/or professional qualification in relevant subjects (property management or surveying) and member of a related professional membership (RICS)
