Job Description:
Duties include testing, trouble shooting, repairing and recommending electrical and mechanical engineering changes to improve military communication product designs. Provide product support and collaboration to assist design engineers, test technicians and test engineers with documentation of current “as built” engineering product design revision levels, hardware completion schedules and new product improvements. Sustain prototype lab work area and records to pass all audit requirements including meeting and maintaining L3 and L4 Hardware Level requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Able to test, troubleshoot, repair and implement increasing levels of difficulty in development and or redesign of advanced electronic circuits and circuit card assemblies.
  • Able to make electrical and mechanical design recommendations based on hands on radio operation, testing, tear down and repair experience.
  • Able to implement, discuss and validate design modifications in real time with engineers and technicians.
  • Accurately document “As Built” record with marked up layout drawings, sketches and special notes necessary to communicate the design status.
  • Capable of analyzing communication products as they progress through design maturity at the unit, module, and CCA Design levels for ease of manufacture, interchangeability, SWAP, and specification conformance and document and communicate the design recommendations necessary for product improvement.
  • Previous lab audit experience meeting both internal Mission Assurance (MA) and external Quality Management System AS9100 audit requirements.

Required Skills:
  • 2+ years of related work experience
  • Hands on knowledge and experience with the electrical and mechanical operation and repair of Raytheon communication products or in general, electrical / mechanical assemblies.
  • Be IPC J –STD-001 Certified and able to pass a solder proficiency test and be able to work under magnification.
  • Understand engineering electrical and mechanical product drawings (schematics, assembly drawings and parts list / BOMs) and be able to check for clarity, completeness and conformity to product builds and with the conformance to the specifications for form, fit and function.
  • Possess the communication skills necessary to accurately communicate redesign, repair or other technical changes as well as schedules required to inform technicians, Design Engineers, Chief Engineers and Program Managers.
  • Able to manage and be comfortable in a fast paced learning environment and be willing to go beyond basic job expectations to exceed customer’s needs.
  • Has a positive attitude and capable of working in an environment that often has frequently changing task priorities and time related commitments.
  • Previous lab audit experience meeting both internal Mission Assurance (MA) and external Quality Management System AS9100 audit requirements.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.


Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Hot Air Rework of Ball Grid Array and other Bottom Only terminated SMT components.
  • Experience with Wire Harnesses and RF coaxial cables construction, debug and repair.
  • Experience with standard Circuit Card repair processes such as green and red wires
  • Willing to obtain J-Standard Certified Instructor certificate and assist with the sites IPC solder certification process.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree NOTE: In lieu of Bachelor's degree, candidate may also possess an Associate's degree with 6 years' related experience OR High school Diploma with 10 years' of related experience.?
