About the position:
To provide leadership and clear direction to a team of Economists and Regulatory Specialists. This team is responsible providing economic information and insight, financial analyses for electric and gas forecasting models, for developing customer incentive models as well as forecasting electric and gas load requirements. The Manager will ensure the delivery and documentation of work within the agreed timelines, cost schedules, quality and safety standards; and within a risk profile that fully supports operating to the highest SHES standards to ensure company goals are met and that delivery of work is consistent with company objectives, strategies and policies.
Lead, motivate and develop the team, allocate resources and provide the necessary training and coaching in order to develop a performance-based culture and ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and business objectives.
Oversee the work of the team to ensure that processes and schedules are being executed and timelines adhered to.
Work closely with management and provide team leadership to ensure that organizational goals are communicated to the team and that group direction is consistent with corporate strategy, direction and growth objectives
Provide guidance and coaching to team members to ensure their effective development to meet their personal aspirations and future business needs.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and value for money by challenging current processes, methods of project and scheme costing and cost control to ensure maximum efficiency.
Develop and utilize peer group network in order to absorb and apply technical/professional best practice within own area of specialism.
Work with process owners, management and peer Managers to identify and implement business process improvement and best practices in a consistent manner; and remain abreast of changing technologies and industry best practices in order to provide a service that is fit for purpose.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Effective communication skills including the ability to make persuasive presentations to small and large audience.
Track record of developing working relationships quickly and effectively both internally and externally.
Ability to operate and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in any Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) or quantitatively-rigorous field.
5 or more years of relevant energy industry experience in a regulated setting with direct interaction with regulators required.
Experience/familiarity with gas, electric and/or economic forecasting.
Good understanding of National Grid’s operations and the regulatory environment influencing utility construction preferred.
Experience of leading, inspiring and motivating an operational team.
