GDIT is currently looking for a Program Analyst to join our team to support the Public Affairs Office at the Naval Medical Research Unit at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. NAMRU-SA is a major research and development center conducting medical, dental and directed energy biomedical research, which focuses on ways to enhance the health, safety, performance, and operational readiness of Navy and Marine Corps personnel and addresses their emergent medical problems in routine and combat operations. Scope of responsibilities to include:

 

Command Publications Programs

  • Receive publication file packages and sign 5721.2 digital forms before routing to CO
  • Review and route all publications to CO and XO for approval
  • Log and tract all single and multiple publications
  • Product submissions via email to NMRC Publications review
  • Communicate with NMRC legal regarding select publications with patent or proprietary issue
  • Notification of cleared products to authors
  • Publication remediation with NMRC
  • Master poster template (to be approved by CO/XO)
  • Provide routing information to authors and resolve issues
  • Make minor corrections to publications before and after CO/XO review
  • OPSEC for publications
  • Respond to and disseminate new instructions form NMRC and BUMED
  • Adhere to all BUMED and NMRC instructions (5721.3D, BUMEDNOTE 5700)
  • PAO Publication Routing Training
  • DTIC uploads (technical reports)
  • Annual MOPs (Measure of Performance) report
  • Updates to Command Publications Guide
  • Content for Principal Investigator Handbook
  • Taskers related to publications

Media Relations

  • Articles and photo to NMRC R&D Quarterly News
  • Press releases with photo to JBSA News
  • Photos with captions for NMRC online posting
  • Articles and photos of DV visits/tours
  • Conference media package
  • Submit photos with captions to DVIDS
  • DVIDs (Defense Video Imagery Distribution System) submissions via NMRC
  • OPSEC for media products
  • Setup, Prep, and provide background for interviews for news and magazine articles
  • Route draft articles from reporters to authors for review/edits.
  • Review and edit articles from reporters
  • Articles and photos for DoD online media sites
  • Respond to Media Queries
  • Conduct Media training
  • Write Video scripts
  • Setup Local Radio interviews
  • Submissions to American Connections Media Outreach Program via NMRC
  • Media Taskers from BUMED, NAVMW and NMR

Internal and External Communications

  • Command Operation Report
  • Draft Proposed Public Affairs Guidance
  • The yearly Gold Star of Excellence in Scientific Writing Award
  • Content for annual lab day at the Pentagon
  • Content for Command Accomplishments, Navy Medicine Blog
  • Command Brief
  • Command Fact Sheet
  • Project Talking points
  • Project Briefs and information materials
  • Project queries
  • Project photos
  • Photos of all Command events
  • Document Command History through art and audio recordings
  • Coordinate and submit historical documents to BUMED historian
  • OPSEC for all internal/external communications products
  • Update Content for Command Website (coordinate with NAMRU-SA IT and NMRC)
  • Process all external Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for command data and information in accordance with SECNAV 5720.42 series & BUMEDINST 5720.7
  • Monthly Taskers from BUMED, NAVMW, and NMRC
  • Manage Command T-shirt orders

Community Relations and Outreach

  • Articles and photos of significant NAMRU-SA participation in community events
  • Articles and photos on NAMRU-SA participation in annual Navy community events (Navy Day at the Alamo, Navy Week, Navy Fiesta, SA 300, etc.)
  • San Antonio Bioscience Website (passive)
  • Track Command Community Speaking engagements via speaker form
  • Respond to STEM event request from Local and Regional Community
  • Identify and respond to key contacts with local education and STEM institutions
  • Take leadership role in JBSA Military Affairs events like Military Medical Tour

Contingency and Crisis Communications Program.

  • Draft Proposed Public Affairs Guidance (PPAG) for critical Command issues including the public affairs posture, questions and answers, talking points, public statement, themes and messages, etc.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of related administrative experience.
  • 3 years experience supporting DoD public affairs preferred.

Education:

  • Associates Degree in a related business discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.
  • BS preferred.
