Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience is required plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.

Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Windows System Administrator working closely with the Compute Services Wintel team. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
Key Responsibilities:
As a member of the Windows Server Administration team within the Mission Systems Information Technology (IT) organization, the Windows System administrator will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of Windows server machines within the environment. This role works closely with Application owners to ensure timely deployment and high availability of applications, as well as with the Cloud Services team to optimize the performance of virtualized servers within the infrastructure. includes a focus on identifying, reporting and resolving Server Compliance, Remediation & vulnerability issues
• Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems
• Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems
• Serves as a front line interface to users with technical issues
• Makes recommendations for hardware and software purchases
• Interacts with third-party technology vendors and internal database staff
• Conducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies
• Duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users
• The Server System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day support of Server services
• Configures, maintains and troubleshoots network related interfaces on servers
• Monitors Physical and Virtual Servers performance using monitoring tools
• Performs troubleshoots and does analysis of alerts on Servers
• Executes plans, designs, and implements necessary configurations to ensure compliance with back-up and disaster recovery policies and procedures
• Develops and executes tests based on test plans for assigned tasks
• Independently identifies tasks or projects that need to be done and effectively prioritizes time to complete multiple assignments
• Process Improvement: Promotes process/policy compliance

• Performs Windows Server administration including Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016 Operating Systems
• Demonstrated knowledge of configuring, managing and troubleshooting Active Directory, Domain Structures, Group Policy, Antivirus, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, DFS and basic Networking
• Knowledge of configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting physical hardware including Dell and UCS servers, both rack mounted and blade
• Strong troubleshooting skills with Windows Server OS as well as network and storage
• Understand scripting working knowledge of PowerShell to automate repetitive processes
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel & PowerPoint) to be used to manipulate and present data
• Knowledge of administration of virtualized Windows servers via VMware vSphere and VMware vSphere web client
• Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills

• Strong working knowledge resolving Server Compliance, Remediation & vulnerability issues
• Performs periodic patching and remediation of servers
• Analyze and review CIS benchmark for Window Server to develop hardening baseline(s).
• Understanding of GPO settings to enforce those benchmark in an Enterprise environment.
• Configure, generate and collect data from tools such as Tenable to produce reports.
• Analyze and troubleshoot scan results, generate gap assessment, provide instructions to assist Wintel admins in remediation
• Generate reports (weekly snapshots, scores, trend reports) and review reports with admins & and present monthly reports to Management
• Maintain templates (accept risk and recast risk exceptions, rule adjustments, etc…)
• Enhancements to Tenable Security Center (dashboard reporting)

Desired but optional:
• Performs analysis Splunk alerts
• Monitors system and VM performance using Solarwinds or similar tools
• Working knowledge of MS SCCM for patching
• Familiarity with Remedy tickets system
• Basic Unix/Linux skills
