Senior Process Engineer - Wafer Fab / Plasma Etch

An opportunity currently exists for a Sr Process Engineering position in the wafer fab of the Microelectronics Engineering and Technology department. The Microelectronics Engineering and Technology (MET) department designs and manufactures compound semiconductor devices, millimeter/microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) and modules for defense and commercial applications and is a part of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems.

In this position, the chosen candidate will be responsible for supporting the Raytheon semiconductor foundry in the areas of wafer processing for production support, process development, scanning electron microscopy in the plasma etch workcenter. He or she will be mainly responsible for processing wafers using plasma etch tools in a cleanroom environment, and documenting and communicating all measurement results. The chosen candidate is also expected to work in various areas of wafer fabrication and process development on next generation technologies and problem solving. An understanding of semiconductor processing and cleanroom experience is required.

Responsibilities will include some or all of the following:

- Support the production and development fab in improving yield, throughput and defect reduction

Responsible for all outputs of the etch processes
- Design appropriate process qualifications for etch equipment
- Process wafers on etch tools as per process specifications
- Analyze etched wafers per design specificationsDocument and effectively communicate all processing steps

Required Skills & Experience

- Understanding and deep experience of semiconductor etch processing techniques and etch equipment
- Desire to work exclusively in a semiconductor clean room environment
- Highly organized

Desired Skills & Experience

- Subject matter expert experience with plasma etching
- Excellent communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
- Desire to learn new wafer fabrication skills and willingness to assist team members
- Knowledge of III-V semiconductors, preferably Gallium Arsenide and Gallium Nitride

Education

B.S. degree with 10+ years related working experience or a Master’s degree with 5+ years of related experience or a Ph.D with 3+ years of related work experience

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. It can be G09 or G10 depending on experience level.
