SAIC is seeking a Network Engineer to join our Arlington, VA team.

  • Intermediate to Senior Network Engineer, working with a diverse team of analysts, linguists, cultural experts, and operations officers, focused on creating and recognizing targeting opportunities and strategies in the cyber-realm.
  • Responsible for supporting a variety of networks & systems in a mission-critical enterprise environment.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a small team, without a constant management presence.
  • Additionally, troubleshooting network issues, and customer service skills, including the ability to defuse situations, and to deal with individuals who might not fully understand the technology, is required.
  • Works in a team of various government, subcontractor, and SAIC personnel.
  • This engineer will primarily deal with project-type work.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors or equivalent experience (4 years) and 5+ yrs experience.
  • Must possess Top Secret DoD Clearance, with SCI Eligibility (last PR within 5 years)
  • Security+ or CISSP certification
  • Advanced Knowledge of TCP/IP, network infrastructure, and networked appliances, to include administrative access and configuration experience. MUST be fully conversant in the OSI model
  • Ability to troubleshoot production networks in real time without causing down time
  • Ability to trace network issues back to their source, and to remediate issues without continuous supervision
  • Knowledge of telecommunications networks, including PSTN, ISDN (BRI and PRI), ATM, MPLS, Point-to-Point, Frame Relay, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of switch fabrics, layered infrastructure design, trunked interconnectivity, and VLANs
  • Knowledge of thin and thick clients, as well as Citrix and DesktopDirector
  • Knowledge of printers, networked print queues, and basic maintenance
  • Knowledge of network- attached storage systems and iSCSI-based SANs
  • Knowledge of rules and procedures for handling government classified and proprietary information




  • COMSEC Experience: loading key material, configuring, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of classified communication systems
  • Experience with Cisco infrastructure equipment – routers, switches, SAN switch fabrics, VoIP telephones.
  • Experience working with serial console terminal servers
  • Knowledge of Mac OSX
  • Knowledge of UNIX and Linux systems
  • Knowledge of VMWare ESXi, vSphere, vCenter
  • Knowledge of VPN concentrators
  • Working knowledge of popular, legacy, and new social media, blog sites, and mobile applications
