This position can be a Salary Grade G07 or Salary Grade G08 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

The IT Security Cyber Security Network Analyst is part of an Information Security team supporting a heterogeneous mix of existing and proposed computing and network hardware within engineering lab, factory, and functional business environments. The Analyst interfaces with end-users and security engineers to successfully integrate systems into segregated networks, providing hands-on support and troubleshooting. The Analyst is an active component in the protection of IT assets, infrastructure, and information as part of an operations focused team serving local and remote customers using encryption technology, penetration, risk management and vulnerability analysis of various security technologies and information technology security research. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, works well within a team, and has a genuine interest in acquiring new technological skills.
General Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring the protection of company data against unauthorized disclosure, accidental or intentional loss of data, or unauthorized modification
  • Provides security engineering and integration services to internal customers. Involved in a wide range of issues including secure architectures, secure electronic data traffic, network security, information security and privacy
  • Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a mild to moderate scope and complexity
  • Apply firewall configuration changes as directed
  • Participate in documenting and publishing security related workflows and procedures
  • Work as a team member in a diversified technological environment
Minimum Required Skills:
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related STEM field with an emphasis in networks and/or systems security and 2+ years’ experience as an Analyst/Technologist in an operational IT environment
  • Strong technical background, with understanding of concepts of confidentiality, integrity and availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, user authentication and authorization
  • Troubleshooting basic workstation and server issues
  • Basic DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory experience
  • Familiar with TCP/IP, switches, routers, firewalls, and their basic operation
  • Knowledge of security tools such as Nessus and Wireshark
  • Strong communication skills - oral, written and presentation
  • Ability to identify and analyze significant problems and opportunities
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of an inter-organizational team as well as an individual contributor
  • Ability to work with general supervision and follow established procedures
  • Information Security certifications (S+, GIAC, SANS, CISSP) and/or network/ systems certifications (CCNA/P, Linux/UNIX Red Hat RHCE, Microsoft MCSE)
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
Highly Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:
  • 4+ years experience as an Analyst/Technologist in an operational IT environment
  • Experience with firewall configuration and operation
  • Experience with security tools in an operational environment
  • Knowledge of risk assessment procedures, authorization methodologies, authentication technologies, and security attack pathologies
  • Knowledge of information systems design and development
