The Mechanical Subsystems Directorate (MSD) is seeking several Mid-Level Mechanical Engineers at our Tucson, AZ, plant site to support multiple programs across the product life cycle including concept development, critical design, integration, qualification, and production support as a Responsible Engineering Authority. These positions perform in alignment to expectations of a Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) across development and production phases. Qualified candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude of the fundamentals, mind-set of incorporating early cycles of learning, attention to detail relative to margin analysis, application of geometric dimensioning, tolerance loops, material selection, structural and thermal considerations, etc. and take ownership in the delivery of a TDP that meets requirements, is producible, and in accordance to RMS standards. These positions require strong communication skills in interfacing across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality with additional knowledge of basic engineering test principals, supplier first article inspections, work instruction, and failure investigation principals.
As an REA, decisions are data driven and require preparing technical justification analysis reports as well as presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards. The REA may function at times in a role without appreciable direction or supervision while exercising considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of the assignment requiring self-initiative, engagement of subject matter experts.
