Raytheon UK is looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join a successful Power Products team within the Global Sensors Mission Area.
The role will be based at Raytheon’s Glenrothes, Harlow or Manchester facility and the successful candidate will report directly to the Engineering Manager.
The Design Engineer is a key team player in supporting the definition of the complete Power Product solution, bring together the integration of contributions from all other engineering disciplines – including systems, hardware, software, mechanical and safety.
Above all, this is the ideal opportunity for a self-starting engineer who wants to work on exciting technology and product development projects in a collaborative environment.
This role includes:
Power Product design and development - From the initial concept stage, developing these concepts through to final production and certification.
Supporting the generation of technical proposals for Power Products.
Exposure to latest power topology research and techniques.
Interfacing with 3rd parties (for example: suppliers, industry experts, and universities) to understand how to realise a final product.
Hardware commissioning and verification testing.
Proven ability to design power conversion and monitoring circuits utilising analogue and digital techniques .
Proven analytical skills in circuit simulation, EMC and thermal analysis.
Demonstrable experience in power product development for harsh environments.
Experience in interpretation of customer specifications and end use environments to derive effective requirements to enable robust designs.
Ability to develop concepts efficiently from limited or vague customer requirements and communicate potential solutions.
A full understanding of test and verification of power systems.
Good problem solving skills, willing to take ownership as well as positively contributing within cross-disciplined teams.
Good communication skills. Ability to tailor communications to level and audience at all levels.
Experienced in the layout of printed circuit boards for complex power supply systems to support functionality, EMC and manufacturing.
Experience in circuit simulation (Matlab, LTSpice, PSpice or Orcad).
Design of Invertor and Power Factor Correction power supplies and exposure to other topologies.
Design or exposure to FPGA and or DSP control circuits.
Design or exposure to using NI Labview.
EMC Filter Design.
Reliability calculation techniques and stress / de-rating analysis.
Test and commission prototypes, products and systems.
Proven team working and collaboration experience within Product Developments.
HND / BSc /MEng in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or similar.
Candidates with other qualifications and relevant experience will be considered.
