ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Systems Engineer to join our team in the Reston, VA area to provide unparalleled support to our customer and to begin an exciting and rewarding career within ManTech.
The Systems Engineer provides support to the multiple federal agencies, DHS, and ManTech, focused on providing subject matter expertise to develop and architect the next generation of cybersecurity in support of DHS’ Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Program.
Responsible for administering RedHat Enterprise Linux servers and Windows 2012/2016 servers in a Shared Services Platform, including
Installation and configuration of software
Network configuration on the servers
Security patching using SCCM and RedHat Satellite
Performing software upgrades
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
Set up accounts using CyberArk
Monitor performance and maintain systems according to security requirements
Troubleshoot issues and outages
Ensure security through access controls and appropriate permissions
Develop/update technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs, such as backups.
Perform daily backup operations using CommVault to ensure all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the backup site.
Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
Create virtual machines in the Systems Integration Testing (SIT) environment and load appropriate O/S images for the Engineering Team
Follow DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to build configuration settings on the Production and SIT servers
Provide briefings to DHS and Agency customers regarding architectural best practices on an as-needed basis
5-8 years of experience in Information Technology
Bachelor degree in Computer Sciences, Technology, degree or relevant experience
4-6 years of demonstrated experience administering Microsoft Operating Systems 2012 R2, 2016, RedHat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Exchange Server
Experience with patching using SCCM and RedHat Satellite
Knowledge and experience in use of CyberArk to do privileged user access management
Experience with CommVault backup is a plus
Knowledge of Cisco switching and routing
Experience with Infoblox DNS Proxy and Bluecoat Web Proxy is a plus
Experience with VMware 5.5
Experience with iSCSI SANS
Working knowledge of databases and SQL
Strong analytical skills to enable effective troubleshooting
Experience with scripting on Linux using languages, such as Python and Bourne Shell scripting
Experience with FISMA, NIST, security standards
Knowledge of integrated security system architecture
In-depth experience with general IT security concepts, network security and monitoring practices/methodologies
Experience presenting material to senior management level and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of CDM goals and objectives
Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Suitability/Entry on Duty (EOD)
