Reporting to the Technical Accounting Senior Manager, the Manager II will be part of a dynamic Technical Accounting team involved with all technical accounting and reporting responsibilities. This high profile role will partner with business personnel in various functions and levels in the organization to understand the issues, evaluate and influence the outcome and document the technical accounting conclusions. The individual will demonstrate knowledge of appropriate GAAP rules and regulations and internal controls to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures. The successful candidate will apply analytical concepts consistently based on facts and circumstances, and communicate information effectively across the finance organization to ensure compliance in all financial matters.
Serve as an advisor to the business on key Raytheon Company and U.S.GAAP policies (i.e., ASC 606 Revenue Recognition, Estimates at Completion, Bookings, Sales & Backlog, Accounting for Bid and Proposal Costs, Deferred Contract Costs, Company Funded and Appropriate Requests, etc.);
Interact with leadership across Raytheon and Space and Airborne business on various business issues;
Review new and modified contracts for unique terms and compliance to Raytheon policies and procedures;
Actively participate in significant contract pursuits with special focus on revenue recognition, governmental and other accounting issues;
Review selected EACs (Estimates at Completion) to ensure compliance with policy prior to the approval by the SAS Controller;
Research accounting issues and prepare whitepapers as needed;
Update Segment level Finance command media as needed;
Interface with internal and external auditors and investigate and respond to audit inquires;
Other assignments and special projects as required.
8+ years related work experience
In-depth GAAP technical accounting knowledge and the ability to appropriately apply it
Experience working in a matrix environment with a great deal of autonomy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong team player
Ability to travel
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems
Ability to obtain a Secret Security clearance
3+ years experience in aerospace/defense industry experience
Previous public accounting experience (inclusive of revenue auditing) desirable
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance or related discipline. Masters of Business Administration preferred.
