Job Description:
The Classified Solution Architect will work with Program Engagement Leads, Business Partner Leads and Program Execution to capture business needs, translate them into information systems capabilities, and develop solutions that enable the business. The Classified Solution Architect primarily works with representatives from the Program Execution organization to deliver solutions that enable programs to operate in closed environments and that enhance the productivity of our program and manufacturing environments. They work closely with the project team to fully understand the business needs and to develop a solution architecture that will meet those needs, while simultaneously leveraging existing components and capabilities within both SAS and the broader Global Business Services (GBS) IT organization. The solution architect works to reduce the environment complexity through a consistent use of enterprise and business standards and works to reduce solution costs through the creation, documentation and use of common solution frameworks and components. The solution architect is responsible for developing and documenting best practices in their area of expertise and frequently monitors the implementation teams to ensure a high quality solution is deployed. They work to refine the design and delivery processes, seeking to implement practices that maximize component reuse. Solution architects also work to provide design, development, delivery and maintenance tools and frameworks to enable the effective management and creation of solution artifacts and maintain a searchable library of these components. Finally, solution architects at the business work with their counterparts in other businesses and at the enterprise to maximize system reuse across the company and provide transparency in business operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of experience in information systems design and architecture
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems and development of scripting and automation for these platforms
  • Broad knowledge of information system technologies: servers, storage, network, security devices and system controls, virtualization and containers, and network server software packages
  • Experience architecting, designing, developing and deploying information system technologies to meet business requirements
  • Ability to mentor others to elevate their technical abilities and prepare them to step into the role of a solution architect
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to dialogue, negotiate, influence and work with others collaboratively and constructively
  • Ability to inspire confidence in technical approaches with in-depth domain expertise and clear, persuasive communications
  • Ability to present and communicate across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to develop and then champion technology and solution standards
  • Knowledge of Government security controls associated with the Risk Management Framework (RMF), including NISPOM, JAFAN and ICD 503
  • Must have a current active secret clearance and must be able to obtain Top Secret
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in STEM discipline and 8 years of relevant experience
