Job Description:Test Engineering Section Manager. This role can be a Manager II, Electrical Engineering (CD71) or Manager III, Electrical Engineering (CD72).
The Test Engineering Section Manager within Operations is responsible for leading a support team consisting of test engineers and Product Test Specialists who are technically trained individuals with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience. The successful candidate will report to the Test Engineering Department Manager and be accountable for the daily management and direction of approximately 30 Project Test Engineers. The team’s charter is to drive product test integrity by engaging throughout the product lifecycle to maintain and control test systems, improve test processes and influence testability in the product design.
The Section Manager will be responsible for prioritizing work to meet the customer’s needs, coordinating resources, managing team staffing levels, creating job requisitions and conducting interviews, EAC forecasting and interfacing with Strategic Make Center personnel and leaders. The Section Manager will also provide coaching, mentoring, employee performance development and training Project Test Engineers in skills and processes required to do their jobs.

The Section Manager is responsible for technical quality of engineering tasks and must ensure the proper peer reviews, processes and technical oversight are completed. The Section Manager is also expected to support proposal activities and provide cost estimates for program bids and fiscal year planning. The candidate will also be responsible with interfacing to the Common Factory Test Platform (CFTP) team as common test solutions are being developed and deployed into Strategic Make Centers.
The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in both technical and test engineering leadership roles. The candidate must be capable of working beyond the typical 8 hour work day and 40 hour work week, including alternating weekend and holiday coverage throughout the year. This position requires direct support of manufacturing activities and spending nearly 100% of daily time in the factory areas and able to work in a dynamic environment.
Additionally, the candidate must be capable of being granted and maintaining a DoD Secret clearance.




Required Skills:

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of technical/engineering experience with emphasis in test engineering
  • Experience working in manufacturing/factory test environment with increasing responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience with test system prove in process, troubleshooting experience, leading root cause and corrective actions efforts and Test Engineering processes
  • Able to leverage technical problem solving skills to perform effective root cause analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced technical principles in test equipment processes and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to apply technical principles in the test equipment life cycle
  • Self-starter and able to manage personal and team workload
  • Customer and company oriented and driven to meet or exceed expectations
  • Demonstrated organizational, teaming and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional attitude to serve as an example to the team and colleagues

  • Working knowledge of existing RMS execution systems such as PRISM, SAP, WebDragon, Shop Floor Control and data acquisition software
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including MS Project
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance
