Position:  864-Navy Electrical Subject Matter Expert Type:  Full Time Location:  Virginia Beach, Virginia

FTI is looking for a Navy Electrical Subject Matter Expert in Virginia Beach, VA as follows:

  • Performing onboard organic repair capability assists / surveys to all ships in the Navy with a focus toward deployers, 
  • Conducting an onsite review and documentation of all applicable equipment, tools, repair materials, repair parts and technical documentation,
  • Maintaining a continuous SME presence in FCAs to support local face to face, onboard support to vessels in the local area,
  • Ensuring equipment is operable and personnel are trained / qualified to operate equipment,
  • Recording findings and gaps that require assistance and make recommendations for remediation,
  • Providing hands-on On-the-job training to ships force,
  • Coordinating training with NAMTS team members and MAT team members,
  • Reviewing onboard shop capabilities against the capabilities sheets,
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of ship class program capability sheets based on applicable Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual or other guidance,
  • Supporting the afloat Intermediate Maintenance Activity concept,
  • Providing continuous interaction with ship force to ensure assist findings are recorded, addressed and remedied,
  • Assisting in the collection of data required to support metrics and reporting,
  • Recommending improvements to the Project Manager,
  • Submitting monthly reports to Project Managers
  • Recommending Program improvements to the Project Manager
  • Other duties assigned.


  • Former U.S. Navy Electricians Mate (EM) preferably E7 or above or Highly qualified E6
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Preferred Motor Rewinder
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
  • Potential travel up-to 10%
