Duties include but are not limited to:

 

  • IBM Spectrum Protect (formerly Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM)), IBM ProtectTIER VTLs, IBM tape Libraries, IBM Cloud Object Storage and other related backup and recovery infrastructure components
  • Add-remove of appropriate backup data agents for Exchange, SQL, etc as needed.

      Configuration of Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments (VE)

  • Respond to incidents, customer service requests, working with vendors as needed, and update Remedy as to events and status.
  • Develop and implement change requests using the ITIL-based change management process.
  • Perform application and application host OS security patching and software upgrades
  • Conduct customer training
  • Assist with customer data restoration
  • Participate in quality control efforts

 

Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.

 

1. Performs expert-level systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering.

 

2. Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.

 

3. Acts as a subject-matter expert to multiple tasks and/or programs.

 

4. Reviews completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management and/or clients.

 

5. Plans and directs upgrades of operating systems and designs systems enhancements. 6. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.

 

7. Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

 

8. Serves as a technical team or task lead.

 

9. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers and may have supervisory responsibility.

 

10. Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.

 

11. May provide expertise to multiple projects and tasks.

 

12. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

 

13. Participates in special projects as required.

Qualifications:

15-20 years of related systems engineering experience.

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments
  • Familiarity with AIX and TSM/Spectrum protect running on AIX
  • Experience supporting Data Domain Storage appliances, IBM Protect TIER VTLs, IBM tape Libraries, and other related backup and recovery infrastructure
  • MA or MS degree preferred
  • Experience in environments with multiple networks and multiple security domains
  • Experience with developing strategic plans
  • Experience with business requirements gathering and analysis
  • Experience with systems design and development
  • Experience with project planning and management
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure and constantly changing environment
  • Possession of excellent analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills
  • ITIL Certification
  • IBM Certified - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM)
  • VMware VCP
  • Nutanix Platform professional
