Senior Electrical Engineer II (FPGA Verification Engineer)

The Receiver, Exciter, and Signal Processing (RESP) Department in the Electrical Design Directorate (EDD) at Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) is seeking an Electrical Engineer with strong Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) verification skills and experience to join our team. This position will support the Multi-Function RF Systems (MFRFS) product line located in McKinney, Texas.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Support FPGA architecture and design planning for testable, easily-integrated FPGA designs
  • Develop FPGA verification plans specific to each design
  • Develop functional tests and constrained random tests
  • Develop regression test suites and reports
  • Support hardware and system integration, test, and qualification
This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Skills:


  • Minimum 6 years of experience in FPGA/ASIC verification, or minimum 4 years with a related Master’s degree
  • Fluency with Hardware Design Language (VHDL, Verilog and/or System Verilog), or experience with embedded software development using object oriented programming language
  • Proficiency with Modelsim and/or Questa Sim for functional verification
  • Familiarity with code coverage tools for evaluating test coverage
  • Experience with simulation using both directed test and constrained random methodologies
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal skills as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills

Desired Skills:


  • Experience with FPGA and CPLD devices and development tools from Xilinx, Intel/Altera, and Microsemi
  • Experience with cocotb
  • Knowledge of System Verilog Assertions, UVM and UVM Register Abstraction Layer (RAL)
  • Experience with scripting in Python, Tcl, Perl, or shell scripting
  • Knowledge of radar and/or communications waveform control
  • Experience using DOORs tool for requirements capture and flow of requirements through multiple levels of specifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
