Job Title – Sr. Cyber Defense Technologist I

Job Description
This job opportunity is for an Information System Security Officer (ISSO). The ISSO is responsible for the execution of the Cybersecurity program as stipulated by various Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements including, but not limited to, JSIG and NIST compliance requirements. The selected candidate will be responsible for the daily execution of the cybersecurity program and shall ensure people and information systems meet the intent of cybersecurity requirements to include:

  • Perform system auditing, vulnerability risk assessments, Assured File Transfers, hardware/software configuration management, data integrity containments and investigations on related security violations/incidents
  • Provide cybersecurity education and training for all system users
  • Develop and maintain Assessment and Authorization (A&A) artifacts (e.g., System Security Plans (SSP), SSP Body of Evidence (BoE), Plans of Actions & Milestones (POA&M), security testing documentation, Continuous Monitoring Plan, etc.)
  • Interface with and collaborate with Internal/External customers: Customer Representatives, Approval Authorities, Program Managers, Engineering, and Information Technology (IT)
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure system security controls are implemented and tested
  • Work alongside IT to ensure continuous monitoring requirements are met

Required Skills:
  • Prior ISSO, Cybersecurity Engineering, or System Security Administrator experience
  • US Citizen with an active clearance
  • In-depth knowledge of JSIG, NIST special publications, CNSS policies and other requirements document sets associated with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) or system security
  • DoD 8570.01M compliant professional certification (e.g. Security + CE, CISSP, GSEC, etc.)
  • Experience with various information system security assessment/hardening, and compliance applications (e.g., Nessus Security Center, SCAP Compliance Checker, ACAS, HBSS, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Wide-Area and Local Area Networks (WAN/LAN) to include network topologies, routers, switches and firewalls
  • Experience supporting various computer hardware, software, and operating system platforms (e.g., physical, virtual/hypervisor, VMWare, Microsoft Windows, Red Hat, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of operating systems security features and settings (e.g. Microsoft Server Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.), Windows 10 and Red Hat Linux security features
  • Experience successfully and effectively interacting with internal and external customers
  • Ability to act independently, prioritize tasks and manage schedules
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Visio, etc.)
  • Comfortable with public speaking. Strong communication skills and able to author and present subject specific presentations
  • Must be willing and able to travel to other locations as required up to 10% of work schedule
Required Education (including Major):
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Cybersecurity, or related field of study and a minimum of 4 years prior relevant experience; or 12 years of experience in lieu of education
