Global Security Data Scientist

Job Description:
This position is part of the Raytheon Global Security Services (GSS) Counterintelligence and Investigations organization charged with providing proactive, actionable threat intelligence through trend identification, data analysis, ­report writing concerning, counterintelligence, work place incidents, terrorism, and acts of espionage to all global security disciplines. The Global Security Data Scientist is a key member of a team that delivers scientific methodologies into data hypotheses testing and strategic data and predictive analytics to business leaders to help identify and convey (i.e. visualize) insider threat and threat management events to our business. This will require working with various security and cyber analysts in expanding and maintaining the framework for the overall insider threat and risk intelligence program.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Identifying, monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating information from multiple data sources including company databases
  • Notifying decision makers and global security disciplines about events and incidents that could impact Raytheon derived from various business tools, internal and external data sets, and other sources
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms within company databases to apply to data sets
  • Conduct analyses through the use of advanced analytical and visualization tools, network theory, and business intelligence analysis of security data to predict threats and vulnerabilities
  • Develop processes, procedures, and notifications to analyze and measure security risk and implement appropriate risk mitigation methodologies
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize measures and methods associated with internal monitoring
  • Manages various analytical tools and information systems to identify and follow trends in order to provide actionable intelligence to key business leaders
  • Study historical data, researches trends, and analyzes effects of decisions or events to evaluate threats to business assets
Required Experience, Skills & Education:
  • A minimum of 4 years of Data Analysis/Modeling, Cyber Security Monitoring, Business Intelligence or Data Science concentrations
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, ORACLE, etc). to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Experience with intelligence reporting, analytics and analytical report writing, and visualization software
  • Proficiency across multiple devices and platforms to include database user interfaces and query software
  • Experience with database management systems, data warehousing, query language, reporting generators
  • The ability to obtain a U.S. DoD SECRET security clearance
  • Bachelor’s in data science, business intelligence, data analytics, or similar discipline
Desired Experience, Skills & Education:
  • 4 - 5 years of Data Analysis/Modeling, Cyber Security Monitoring, Business Intelligence or Data Science concentrations
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks) and their real-world advantages/disadvantages
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage) and experience with applications
  • Previous experience with Insider Threat/Threat Management data analysis
  • Strong experience in utilizing business intelligence tools, network analysis, and cyber security principals
  • Experience in building data analytic procedures and processes
  • Understanding of IT, industrial security, business processes, and auditing
  • The ability to work effectively with people in various functions, programs, and business concentrations
  • Presentation and leadership briefing skills
  • Graduate degree in data sciences, business intelligence, data analytics, or similar discipline

This position requires the successful issuance, transfer or maintenance of a Secret security Clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
