The Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) organization has a need for a leader of the RF Surveillance & Processing Systems Department. The department manager’s functional responsibilities include: staffing programs with an acceptable skill mix of SEs in a timely-fashion; deployment of process initiatives; ensuring compliance to processes; maintaining a product level technology roadmap and implementation strategy to ensure the integrity of the systems engineer work: quality, technical performance, and timeliness of work products; provide technical and leadership mentorship to direct reports- Program Chief Engineers (PCEs), Section Managers (SMs), Integrated Product Team Leads (IPTLs), technical staff and also to engineers performing systems engineers tasks for your products; performance management duties include goal setting, career counseling, compensation, and employee training and development; ensure achievement of diversity within the organization; develop the department infrastructure and develop/monitor the department’s strategic plan; frequently interact with program managers, business development, center management, BACEs, PACEs, and business area VPs to achieve the goals and objectives of the department, center, and business; champion, implement, and sustain R6S within the department.
This leader will be responsible for the technical performance and career development of approximately 140 systems engineers that primarily support the ISRS and ACT mission areas. The department manager is responsible for developing/providing the right team of Systems Engineers in a manner that ensures the continued health of the mission areas and coordination with ACT mission areas to bring new technologies/capabilities into the ISRS Radar product lines that include SI/Cyber protected systems. The department is expected to develop/provide program leaders to perform the following roles: SE IPTL/CPTL, Lead Systems Engineer, System Architect and Program Chief Engineer. By leading the work of these roles, the department manager has responsibility for strategy, roadmaps, technology development, staffing, and program execution of radar systems architecture and design activities. From an SAS IPDS development phase perspective the typical work functions of the department are the development and maturation of the system architecture and the technical baseline, in addition to requirements development and management, algorithm development, Modeling & Simulation, and data analysis.
