KBRwyle is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join team located in Dayton, Ohio. The individual will work with a team of electrical engineers, material scientists, physicists, and other software engineers to support KBRwyle’s fully automated Eddy Current Inspection Station (ECIS). The ECIS is the premier inspection system of the United States Air Force with over thirty systems utilized at the engine overhaul depot at Tinker AFB with others located in Dayton and at allied countries worldwide. The ECIS is a mission critical system designed to detect defects on fracture critical components in gas turbine engines on the F-15, F-16, F-22, and F-35 fighter aircraft thereby extending the their life saving the United States extensive maintenance costs.

Job assignments will include maintaining and expanding the capability of the ECIS Station Executive software to allow for hardware enhancements in addition to supporting inspection developments.

The station software is a multi-threaded program that administers commands to system hardware devices for data collection and then interprets that data utilizing sophisticated processing techniques for the presence of flaw indications embedded within geometry signals. This position provides an opportunity for continuous challenges in problem solving to achieve the ever pressing expansion of inspection requirements to meet higher performance engine inspection requirements. Throughout its thirty year lifecycle the ECIS has undergone numerous expansions and upgrades with a recent modification to rewrite the station executive software utilizing object oriented programming design structure. The new design structure and added offline test capabilities position KBRwyle to make substantial upgrades in many system improvements such as algorithms for flaw characterization, enhanced graphical display of inspection results and online system diagnostics.

Further responsibilities will be to support the ECIS Server Software and Flaw Reporting Database, including development of data analytics algorithms and tools to extract and organize information from prior inspection data.


Required Skills and Experience

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and (8) years of directly related experience
  • Clearance Requirement: US Citizen
  • Experience in Object Oriented programming (C and C#)
  • Multi-threaded programming
  • Hardware Interfaces
  • Familiarity with Software Quality Practices


  • MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and (15) years of directly related experience
  • Embedded programming
  • Experience with Structured Query Language
  • Parasoft Automated Software Testing
  • F135 Coding Standards
  • DotTest
  • Perforce Version Control
