Job Description

Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems Execution Operations (XOPS) is offering a great opportunity for a Continuous Improvement/Lean Leader in the Patriot Missile Effectors Area. Effectors achieves Operational Excellence through the mindset and practice of continuous improvement. We are focused on delivering superior and affordable solutions for our customers. This position requires a creative thinker responsible for VSM (Value Stream Mapping) and Cell Design, developing strategy for lean implementation tactics, and driving lean projects across multiple manufacturing cells.

This role requires daily interaction with other functions to maintain and meet organizational goals and objectives. These groups include: technical support, manufacturing/test/design engineering, maintenance, production control, finance and the program management office. Achieving/exceeding safety, quality, delivery, cost goals and identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities using six sigma and lean methodologies are critical performance criteria for this position.

In addition to the above, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supporting deployment of manufacturing operations strategy, control systems, tools and metrics to accurately measure progress and drive continuous improvement, as they relate to the work Cell Area layout and flow management.
Identification and control of Capital projects.
Lead sustainable process improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools to achieve cycle-time reduction, improved quality, and increased productivity.
Facilitate Lean Kaizen events and/or training.
Document/maintain financial performance of lean initiatives, and safety/ergonomics programs.
Work closely with production Cell Leaders, Value Stream Leaders, cross business teams, and the Operational Excellence Resource Center.

This position can be a Salary Grade G09 or Salary Grade G10 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position


Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 6 years’ relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of manufacturing planning/scheduling and operations.
  • At least 4 years utilizing lean manufacturing concepts with a proven track record of lean and/or six sigma implementation.
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
  • High computer literacy and with confidence and skill working with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and familiarity with Raytheon systems (VM, PRISM, PDM)
  • Ability to leverage technology
  • Six Sigma Expert/Black Belt or Lean Certification

  • BA or BS degree.
