This position is for a mechanical engineer that supports the Logistics Support Center (LSC) Spares Program. The LSC Spares program supports the United States Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) by providing Raytheon consumable spare components and assemblies.

The main role of the candidate is to ensure that the current Raytheon Technical Data Package (TDP) will enable the supplier to manufacture quality components and assemblies that will meet the customer’s requirements via a comprehensive understanding of the customer’s Solicitation and Delivery Order and an ability to solve technical problems. The candidate will achieve this aim by working closely with the suppliers from initial quote, through Purchase Order placement and final delivery.

The candidate will be a member of the Integrated Project Team (IPT) and will need to develop close working relationships with other IPT members, the LSC Spares team, Raytheon’s supplier base and Raytheon Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to aid them in resolving the varied problems that will be encountered during the manufacturing cycle.

Job responsibilities include:
• Review customer Solicitation and Delivery order for a thorough understanding of the customer requirements
• Review available supplier capabilities prior to purchase order placement to ensure the customer’s requirements can be met
• Answer technical questions from suppliers during production and test
• Perform Technical Analyses in support of the Cost and Pricing Analysis (CAPA) process
• Draft Change Notices or Variances to support design changes required to resolve issues encountered during the manufacture of products
• The candidate must be able to develop technical solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity and guide the successful completion of components and subassemblies including cabling, circuit card assemblies, microcircuits, semiconductors and other electrical assemblies.

Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 4-6 years full time engineering experience performing tasking that required the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, test requirements and processes
• Strong understanding of structural materials and manufacturing processes
• Experience applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5)
• Experience performing tolerance analysis on individual parts and assemblies
• Knowledge of the configuration process with a demonstrated ability to use Common PDM or other drawing repository
• Experience utilizing IHS/HAYSTACK/CAPS Universe
• Demonstrated ability to assess technical requirements, identify problems and develop response plans to mitigate risk
• Experience writing/editing technical documents
• Strong commitment to quality, customer service and delivery of mission critical capabilities
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal
• Ability to manage multiple, unrelated tasks in an organized manner
• Strong teaming ability
• Self-starter
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Utilize software to effectively organize work flow requirements to meet customer expectations while balancing resources.
• Demonstrated skills in developing and tracking program/functional metrics

Desired Skills:
• Qualified Raytheon Six Sigma Specialist
• Experience in a manufacturing environment or in support of a Spares Program
• Ability to read and understand government contract clauses and requirements
• Experience with defense-related products, familiar with common industry and military standards
• Knowledge of Raytheon engineering process documentation (EPIC, ISO and/or CMMI)
• Working knowledge of PRISM
• A detailed oriented employee with an eye for the uncommon
• Thorough understanding of military logistics requirement processes
• Basic understanding of FAR and DFAR regulations
