Location: Chesapeake, VA
FTI is seeking a Database Developer to support a software development project in Chesapeake, VA. Work location may also be at FTI sites including Huntsville, AL, Dayton, OH and Crystal City, VA. The ideal candidate is a self-starter that prefers working in a dynamic, Agile environment supporting a Government client located in Washington, D.C.
This position requires the candidate to work closely with a team of analysts and application developers in the design, development, testing and implementation of optimized and secure database solutions that meet customer requirements and government information assurance security standards.
(Minimum) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related fields
Current DOD 8570 IAT Level II certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
Minimum of five years of progressive experience in database disciplines including development and maintenance of hierarchical and/or relational databases, preferably in a government/contractor setting
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Ability to work with cross functional team (i.e. project manager, logisticians, engineers, program analysts)
Ability to work independently with a geographically dispersed team
Oracle and MySQL experience is a plus
Agile Scrum knowledge strongly preferred, including use of toolsets such as Jira, Trello, Redmine, etc.
Big Data/Advanced analytics experience with the Hadoop environment, NOSQL, MongoDB, HortonWorks, etc. also preferred
Works under the general supervision according to company policies and project specification
Works with a geographically dispersed team to achieve program development goals and objectives
Analyzes and reviews existing system and program logic to become familiar with the existing product features and database standards
Reviews, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains databases as required
Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the process
Organizes system maintenance data in a format that can be readily manipulated, analyzed and socialized with the technical community and applicable stakeholders as required by the customer
Writes code for database access, modifications, and constructs including stored procedures
Assignments may include design of data dictionaries, database structure and layout, and installing, upgrading, and managing database applications
Other responsibilities include COTS software installation, integration and troubleshooting, user management and validation, and procedural documentation
Specific knowledge of industry and company database development standards and data quality assurance practices is required
Specific knowledge of system integration and application interface design issues is required
Understanding of database analytical tools, network architecture and protocols, security risks and security policies is required
Knowledge of large hierarchical and relational database techniques and methodologies is required
Understanding of data management in respect to availability, integrity and security is required
Familiarization with Scrum Methodology toolsets, such as JIRA, Confluence, and/or TFS is desired.
Understanding of the structure and functionality of GOTS applications strongly preferred
Past experience working on Naval Maintenance, Configuration Management and/or Logistics software systems is strongly preferred.
U.S. citizenship with current Secret government security clearance.
