The Senior Writer-Editor will support a government agency by preparing original content for letters, memoranda, reports, talking points, speeches, and presentations as well as review and edit other written materials prepared by staff/project managers. S/he will consult with subject matter experts/project managers regarding the development of original material to gather background information and an understanding of the goals and objectives, target audience, and deadline for written materials. The Writer-Editor will conduct quality assurance reviews of written correspondence, reports, presentations, and other written communications.

Duties include:

  • Draft new written materials, e.g., reports, letters, memoranda, presentations, etc.
  • Reviews and edits all written materials, including, but not limited to reports and correspondence
  • Ensures that documents meet editorial standards and specifications for quality, format, and style
  • Remains current on relevant programs to help assess the accuracy of written materials
  • Interfaces with Program staff on the development, refinement, and completion of written materials
  • Assists with additional projects involving internal and external communications
  • Participates meetings, as required

This position is based in Washington, DC.


5-8 years of related writing and editing experience

Exceptional written communication skills

Strong attention to detail

Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
