Job Description: Radar Field Engineer:
The Field Engineer (FE) will be responsible for operations & maintenance of Advanced Surveillance Systems in the National Capital Region (NCR). The position is part of a multi-disciplined site team and will support mission execution, testing, and maintenance activities. The FE will monitor/operate systems, conduct preventive maintenance and provide on-call response at System Sites from a Designated Support Facility in the NCR. The FE may be required to work alternating shifts, on-call shifts or a non-standard schedule. The candidate must be able to maintain shift and equipment logs, populate Field Engineering Notebooks and provide input to data trend analysis / source material for Technical Publications. The FE will function as part of a Field Team that will interface with Program Subject Matter Experts and Customer Representatives including routine travel to the Program Systems Integration Lab (SIL) for System Familiarization / Orientation. Extended CONUS travel may be required.

•Highly motivated self-starter with superior problem-solving skills and the ability to excel with minimal direction
•Able to effectively communicate with peers, superiors and customers in a timely / positive manner
•Experience operating, maintaining and/or troubleshooting, to include fault isolation and repair of radar systems or equivalent surveillance equipment
•Familiar with current generation radar systems operation and test, to include basic radar theory, power up/power down, radar initialization, and equivalent system operations
•Working knowledge of radar software operation
•Familiar with supporting control systems, cabling, fiber optic cabling, and interconnect diagrams
•Able to read and understand test plans and procedures, design drawings, specifications and vendor technical documentation related to electronic/mechanical systems.
•Ability to perform overnight travel within the NCR on a recurring basis.
•Clearance Required - Current SECRET with ability to obtain Special Access
•Knowledge of electronics, RF principles and calculations, digital and analog principles and the ability to troubleshoot these areas and use of general electronic test equipment including current generation Spectrum Analyzers and Oscilloscopes
•Strong technical writing skills
•Basic HVAC systems and remote back up power generators knowledge
Work Experience may be considered in lieu of degree---Bachelor’s degree + 4 years’ experience or Associates + 8 years’. With no degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
