The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that focuses on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically. The Hardware Engineering Center has a need for a “DO-254 Compliance Lead Engineer”. Applicants for this position must be familiar with the full life cycle development of electronic hardware. This position requires extensive experience executing and leading FPGA / ASIC design development and verification activities in a disciplined environment under strict configuration management control and test plan documentation. The “DO-254 Compliance Lead Engineer” will be the primary point of contact for communications with external DO-254 Designated Engineering Representative (DER) auditors. The “DO-254 Compliance Lead Engineer” is a long term position. The specific intent of this job posting is to hire an existing DO-254 subject matter expert (SME) or hire the right candidate who can develop into a DO-254 SME who will support multiple programs in that capacity.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in full cycle development and verification of complex FPGAs and/or ASIC designs.
  • Minimum 2 years direct and significant involvement in activities necessary for preparation and successful execution of DO-254 certification compliance audits.
  • Proven leadership skills / accomplishments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to author excellent documentation including presentations, requirements, test plans and reports.
  • A broad technical knowledge of embedded systems, digital, analog, firmware/software.
  • Ability to access to US only data systems
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Desired Skills:
  • DO-254 subject matter expert (SME).
  • Designated Engineering Representative (DER) certification.
  • Experience with Military GPS receiver design and verification.

  • Mentor Graphics simulation tool QuestaSim.
  • Emulator tools Veloce, Palladium.
  • Xilinx Vivado FPGA tool set.
  • Board schematic capture tools.

Required Education: BS degree in engineering applicable to subject from an accredited university.

Desired Education: MS degree in engineering applicable to subject from an accredited university.
