The Advanced Concepts and Technology Mission Area in Raytheon Space & Airborne Systems, seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to provide radar analyst and mode development support and expertise for Advanced Concepts and Technology (ACT) Advanced RF programs. The position will reside within the Airborne Multi-mode Radar Mode Development section in the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) Center. This systems engineer will work with other algorithm developers / analysts supporting the algorithm lead, chief engineer, and lead systems engineer in achieving program objectives.

The radar mode algorithms will be developed in an “In Flight Simulation” (IFS) environment allowing the algorithm code to be handed directly to the SW team for inclusion into mission SW. The simulation environment allows for algorithm trades and mode performance analysis studies to enable rapid prototyping of radar modes. ?

Job Related Activities:

  • Perform radar mode design and software spec definition for implementation of mode functionality
  • Conduct and support various signal processing and waveform analyses
  • Development of mathematical algorithms for radar signal processing
  • Performance predictions and analysis of data received from the radar
  • Design and development of radar waveforms
  • Technical presentations to both internal and external customers
  • Technical team leadership participating in technical peer reviews throughout the product lifecycle of design, development, integration, and test
  • Interface with CE, LSE, IPTL, PM, team members, and other teams (SW and HW) on a daily basis
  • Conduct or participate in customer and/or program technical review presentations, and provide analysis team’s task progress status updates and work products to the LSE and CE
  • Define which message changes are needed in order to meet radar functional requirements

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in systems engineering and algorithm development
  • Technical experience with radar/software systems engineering
  • Knowledge of radar signal processing techniques, mathematical algorithms, analytic techniques, and computer simulations
  • Experience using Matlab for radar data analysis
  • Proficient in C with working knowledge of C++ and related Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
  • Experience working with both customer and internal resources
  • Experience with and knowledge of the Systems Engineering lifecycles and demonstrable application of relevant methodologies and toolsets
  • Experience with radar mode algorithm development
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems
  • This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with rotary wing aircraft
  • Radar mode algorithm development experience including air to air (skin paint) and/or sense and avoid, maritime surveillance, MTI, weather detection, and terrain detection / terrain avoidance
  • Experience with Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA) and associated beamforming algorithms
  • A logical problem solver who can operate effectively under stretching project constraints
  • A strong organizer who can take ownership of tasks, keep statuses, and complete projects on time
  • Experience working in an agile (aka Scrum) product development environment
  • Python and Java coding experience
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance

Required Education: B.S. in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related discipline

Desired Education: M.S. in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related discipline

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
