SAIC is seeking Summer Intern(s) to gain hands-on experience in the field of Small Satellite Systems Engineering, Development and Acquisition. Interns will be paired with a mentor for the duration of the internship program, collaborating with satellite system engineers and acquisition professionals, and a program manager supporting SAIC’s Intelligence Community (IC) customers.  Interns will work with teams developing small satellite systems on accelerated timelines.  Interns will gain insight into satellite and ground systems development and management of satellite systems contracts with Industry partners.  The Summer Intern program is a full time 8-10 week program beginning in late May 2019. The work location is in the Chantilly, VA area with some travel within the USA possible.     

 

Responsibilities:

  • Interns will work within a Satellite Systems Program Office (SPO) for a large Government Agency.
  • The intern will work directly with an SAIC Project Engineer, shadowing him or her as they provide engineering oversight to one of the largest Satellite Development Activities in the US Government.
  • In addition to the shadowing, the intern will propose, develop, and execute an engineering project that is closely related to the current engineering activities within the SPO.
  • Internship includes potential travel opportunities to Satellite Development Factories and other Space related functions and organizations. 


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate level degree from a US accredited college or university with STEM (Scientific Technical Engineering Mathematics) major.
  • Undergraduate students must have completed a minimum of 2-3 years of undergraduate coursework.
  • A GPA of 3.0 or better is desired.
  • Experience with or a working knowledge of small satellites is highly desired.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Internship requires a TS/SCI security clearance with counterintelligence polygraph, which the candidate will apply for immediately upon selection.
