The Payroll Specialist Senior provides advanced payroll processing and related accounting support to ensure the timely and accurate disbursement of wages to domestic and international employees.
Process international and domestic payrolls on a biweekly and monthly pay frequency.
Creates positive pay and Automated Clearing House (ACH) files and submits approved files to the bank for distribution.
Processes and reviews the leave accruals, foreign tax calculations, Health Savings Account and Special 401k Discretionary employer contributions.
Extracts foreign employee payroll wires for distribution to employees’ foreign bank accounts.
Audits and adjusts leave balances based on Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA), Service Contract Act (SCA) regulation and DI corporate policy.
Calculates leave payouts according to Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), SCA, State requirements and DI corporate policy.
Reviews CBAs to determine changes required for payroll and leave benefits to meet the CBA requirements.
Maintains the Leave Plan Summary spreadsheet showing the various leave plans, accrual rates, maximum balances, pay out requirements and the contracts associated with each plan.
Provides payroll and leave reports for month-end close and departmental requests.
Responds to emails related to payroll and leave accruals.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong working knowledge of in-house payroll processing and payroll tax laws.
Intermediate Excel skills to include use of pivots and Vlookups.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications and data entry.
Ability to quickly develop a working knowledge in the following software systems: PeopleSoft, Costpoint, Cognos, Field Payroll System, Time and Labor System (TLS), CitiDirect and Bank of America Cashonline.
Capable of working under pressure of deadlines and able to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment, and must be able to prioritize multiple competing tasks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Effective organizational, decision making and problem solving skills.
Experience & Education
High school diploma or equivalent plus some formal training.
Four (4) years payroll processing experience (in-house) for a large multi-state employer.
International payroll experience preferred.
