This position will support the Ground Systems and Mission Operations (GSMO) contract at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center as an Operations Systems Engineer for the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Flight Operations Team (FOT).

The GPM FOT MPS Engineer will:

·

Report to the GPM FOT Lead Operations Engineer on all matters related to GPM mission operations.

·

- Represent GPM Flight Operations Team at technical meetings as required by the GPM Mission Director.

This may include a variety of Technical Interface Meetings (TIMs), Anomaly and Failure Review Boards (FRBs), Command Authorization Meetings (CAMs), and Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings.

Become the Subject Matter Expert for the Mission Planning System (MPS)

·

- Respond to, identify and investigate issues pertaining to MPS Operations (including SN Scheduling)

·

- Generate MOCRs and OARs as necessary

·

-

Perform verification testing for all new SW deliveries pertaining to MPS

·

- Support FOT in nominal, critical, and contingency operations.

·

-

Maintain LOPs, the training program and other operational tools, processes, and artifacts required for the on-going success of GPM.

·

- Train other MPS members

·

- Perform all other duties as assigned.

·

- Will be required to be on-call every other week for each subsystem (Monday – Monday), with additional off-nominal hours possible during special operations (including weekends and holidays).

MPS

·

- Support daily SN/USN scheduling to meet GPM science data latency requirements

·

- Build daily command loads for uplink to the spacecraft

·

- Plan critical Yaw and Delta V maneuvers, and Power Subsystem Testing for Full Sun Operations as required

·

- Perform day-to-day maintenance of the MPS

·

- Report to the MOC for any anomaly situations while On-Call

·

- Learn the Mission Planning System software to be able to make changes as needed

·

- Write DRs and Enhancements on the MPS software as needed

·

- Support testing of new Mission Planning Software

·

- Support switching of MPS Operations to the EMOC

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

BS in engineering, applied science, or related field and 1 to 3 years of progressive, related experience.

Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.

• Prior MPS Flight Operations Team engineering experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Perl and C

programming

·

Knowledge of the SN and USN, and familiarity with SNAS

·

Knowledge of the GPM Spacecraft
