The selected applicant will provide Operations/Maintenance Support RAID 107’ tower and 17M aerostat operations specifically for support of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) systems at CBP assigned locations. This work will include functioning as one of the crew members, i.e., winch operator, payload station, etc., for launching and recovering the RAID aerostat or a team member of a RAID tower maintenance team. Using RAID aerostat and tower diagnostic test equipment, duties will also include completing diagnostic assessment of the RAID tower and/or aerostat to troubleshoot malfunctions and then conduct repair of the failures. Further, duties will include working in the operations shelter monitoring the RAID aerostat telemetry computer monitoring the “health” of the aerostat, as well as monitoring the weather computer insuring that weather remains suitable for aerostat flight. For RAID tower maintenance, duties will include performing generator maintenance on the various CBP systems. Further, insures the towers remain operational and completes diagnosis of operational issues, and then completes repair of these issues to return systems to operational condition. Works under only general direction of the flight director for aerostat operations and team lead for tower operations/maintenance. Provides support during the planning and scheduling of RAID tower and/or aerostat operational activities, such as site surveys for potential RAID aerostat and/or tower locations. Work is performed as directed by the flight director for aerostats, and team lead for tower maintenance. However, once assigned, work is completed without appreciable supervision.
HS diploma and 1-3 years of experience to include a complete understanding of RAID aerostat/tower operations and is able to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult RAID aerostat/tower operational issues. RAID Tower and/or Aerostat maintenance experience are desired.
