Job Description:
The IT Principal Information Systems Technologist, needs to have a broad IT, Multi-Disciplined background with a proven track record in delivering sustainable results. This position will be responsible for:

  • Managing and Supporting Distributed Systems, to include Servers, Storage Platforms, Backup and Recovery Platforms.
  • Maintain and Support various High Performance Computing Environments on Windows & Linux.
  • Leading IT Service Transitions Initiatives to GBS and new vendors in alignment with the business requirements
  • Developing Service Models to enable IT to meet the needs of the business
  • Transforming IT Services in order to leverage maximum value from our Shared Service, multi-vendor environment
  • Lead development of service roadmaps
  • Lead continual improvement activities associated with reducing service delivery costs


The candidate’s roles and responsibilities include:

  • Integrates multi-level security and insider threat mitigation technologies
  • Develop infrastructure and service management concept of operations
  • Develop and maintain automation capabilities to streamline and secure technical processes
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans
  • Plan for capacity and monitor performance and service availability
  • Administer backups and diagnose backup errors
  • Maintain strict access control to all networks and IT infrastructures
  • Partner with application/project/security teams and vendors to plan, design, and implement new IT infrastructure
  • Manage client agents for server monitoring as well as agents for server management
  • Proactively management of infrastructure to help maintain a healthy environment
  • Maintain infrastructure security standards for all systems & employ security hardening techniques
  • Create and maintains technical and detailed design documentation


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide engineering HPC computing support to unclassified programs in a UNIX, Solaris and
  • Linux environment
  • Provide engineering HPC computing support to unclassified programs in a Windows environment
  • Troubleshoot and fix problems related to HPC computing software and hardware.
  • Assist in designing, implementing, and supporting an integrated HPC environment
  • HPC OS deployment, administration, performance tuning, monitoring, and account management
  • Implement and administer HPC virtualization technology
  • Implement and administer HPC Windows Active directory and group policy
  • Linux and Windows Active Directory authentication integration
  • Disaster Recovery management
  • Testing, Storage management, Backup and restore, Software license and license server management, automation of any and all tasks that can be automated
  • Data and access security management


Required Skills:

  • 10 years of experience in UNIX/Linux and Windows systems administration
  • 3-6 years of Hosting, Storage, Backup and HPC
  • Experience with VMware VSphere (ESXi, vCenter, etc)
  • Experience with High Performance Computing Systems & Support
  • Experience with Service Desk and Knowledgebase
  • Experience designing end to end service models in an enterprise setting
  • Experience developing service scripts
  • Familiarity with Cloud Service Models in a Production Environment
  • Systems deployment, administration, performance tuning, and monitoring
  • Automation via scripting
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Multi-tenancy architecture knowledge
  • Cross-domain solutions
  • Hyper-converged infrastructure
  • Familiar with Window Servers, Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Network and infrastructure services such as domain controllers, global catalogs, DNS, and DHCP
  • Infrastructure backup, restore, disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Critical thinking – ability to solve technical problems independently and with collaborative teams
  • Proven understanding of datacenter concepts and technologies
  • Ability to effectively provide direction for a multi-disciplined IT team to product infrastructure solutions for Large-scale, complex systems.
  • Effective written and interpersonal communication
  • Ability to Lead large scale data center integration/migration project
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance within 1 year of start date.

Required Education: Bachelors’ degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of relevant experience or in lieu of a Bachelor's in STEM, 18 years of relevant experience

Desired Education: MBA Degree, Bachelors’ degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited institution

Other Requirements: Travel for up to 25% per year
