PRINCIPAL SPECIALIST, HSE
Under general direction, direct the daily activities of a business, technical support, or functional support team. Establishes priorities for the completion of assigned tasks. Uses judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices. May direct resources, prioritize tasks and provide guidance to less experienced team members. Relies upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of field to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy.
This position will be located at a client site in Mt. Vernon, IN. No per diem or relocation will be offered
Implements health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines for the employee and department safety.
Creates incident reports and performs inspections to ensure conformity in all areas of HSE.
Interacts with services personnel, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to research and interpret standards, codes and regulations.
Determines requisite for and organizes audits of company operated properties.
Keeps informed of regulatory requirements and auditing standards.
Assists in development and implementation of systems and standards to facilitate the capturing and analysis of HSE statistics.
Implements and conducts project safety orientation to employees on site
Performs daily safety audits
Undergraduate degree in related field, to include Construction Management and/or HSE, preferred
years field safety experience
Minimum of OSHA30 training
Excellent verbal and written communication, organization skills and ability to function within a project team
Work is located at a plant and requires exposure to ambient temperature extremes
Work may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hat and steel-toed boots
Day-to-day physical requirements may involve standard office activities including sitting/standing for extended periods of time, attending meetings, use of keyboard and mouse repetitively, lifting and carrying less than 20 lbs frequently, etc
Work requires moderate physical exertion including walking to operating areas and walking up stairs
May require walking the plant property
