Site Safety and Health Officer
eads Health Safety and Environment initiatives and personnel. Coordinates the delivery of HSE products and services to operations and shared services personnel, in support of project operations and execution. Interfaces and negotiates with clients, subcontractors and regulatory bodies. Responsible for HSE plan implementation, to include health standards directed by regulatory agencies ,
to prevent work site hazards and diseases. Responsible for execution of HSE training plan, and site safety programs. Accountable for HSE performance and program results within an assigned area or location (project).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary duty and responsibility entails inspection of work-sites and processes for compliance with applicable standards, and monitoring of HSE performance and benchmarks against the industry.
Identifies and communicates best practices within and across all business sectors, and to HSE Leadership team.
Engages in many diverse tasks including overseeing and implementation of training programs, report writing, plan development and implementation, attending meetings, and giving presentations.
Significant supervisory and leadership responsibilities, including personnel development.
Requires excellent organizational skills and ability to work under own initiative.
Provides technical leadership and direction to other less experienced personnel.
Provides expert technical advice to operations and shared services personnel.
Position requires excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and ability to serve as a key participant in orchestrating and coordinating base level health and safety programs .
Skills and Education Required
Demonstrated professional knowledge of OSHA, EM385, DOD, and industry HSE processes and standards, as well as strong working knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements in OCONUS,
contingency environments .
Ability to write project Accident Prevention Plan(s) and Accident Hazard Analysis documents.
OSHA 30hr Construction Safety certification required
Ability to assess trends and implement strategies to correct program deficiencies and make adjustments as required .
Ability to plan and implement HSE policies and procedures set forth in OSHA, EM385, customer, and company directives .
Skills required for this job are typically acquired through the completion of an
associate degree and 3 to 5
years of experience
Professional registration or certification preferred .
Recent experience as
Navy OCONUS Site Safety and Health Officer Level 3 or 4 preferred
HAZWOPPER certification preferred
