SAIC is seeking a Database Specialist for a contingent position supporting our Navy and Marine Corps (NMC) customers for Enterprise Network Defense in support of USMC Network Ops and Security Center.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of Defense Cyber Operations (DCO) tasks supporting customer data requirements including analysis, design and development of database solutions in relation to maintaining, modifying and enhancing the security posture, response and analysis of threats to the global Enterprise Network.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Support enterprise network defense databases and supporting systems, including administer, maintain (backups, STIGs, patches, etc.), and develop and implement custom capabilities in structured query language (SQL), .NET and VB .NET
  • Implement database encryption and support database mirroring to ensure information assurance of data within the database
  • Maintain the DCO personnel recall roster and POC databases
  • Develop methods for automating incident detection. Provide quarterly reports on new automation actions and their results
  • Document the technical details of suspected network incidents utilizing internal reporting database to support incident response and reporting requirements
  • Assist in creating, maintaining and refining the body of documentation that describes any aspect of database implementation as well as any techniques and procedures used for solution creation.




Required Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in CS / MIS or other related field.
  • •5+ years of work experience analyzing, designing, developing, implementing technology-based database solutions to support security functions and near real-time response systems within a DOD secure environment.
  • Responsible for designing database structures based on DCO requirements and goals, client operations, applications and objectives and evaluating the current system.
  • Build database solutions based on proposed design; defining database physical structure, security, back-up, and recovery specifications.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining data and data structures, data definitions, flow diagrams; logical and physical data models; data strategy and policies.
  • Develop architectural strategies at the modeling, design and implementation stages of the solution.
  • Responsible for maintaining database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; ensure system’s scalability and performance; develop processes and procedures to eliminate or minimize downtime for maintenance or backup processes. 
  •  Must understand and be capable of building and supporting database clusters and periodically performing database performance tuning.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members on software projects.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess time-management skills and great attention to detail. 
  • Experienced troubleshooting and testing skills, problem identification/analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated communication and organizational skills. Should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adhere to organization’s technical architecture and best practices.


Desired Skills:

  • Work experience with HBSS management and configuration.
  • Experience with Network Security Manager (IPS), or other IPS or IDS systems.



  • Active DOD TS/SCI clearance required.

Certifications Required:

  • Security+ or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
