SAIC is seeking a Chief Systems Engineer (SETA) with a strong background across full life-cycle of satellite ground systems and across all hardware/software aspects and experience in future ground architecture planning. This candidate will support a government program office in charge of ground element command and control (C2) activities within a space program office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support a government counterpart Chief Systems Engineer in evaluating all aspects ground systems programs and strategic planning for future architectures.
  • Provide systems engineering support for new program planning and acquisition including ground site modeling.
  • Evaluate concepts for modernization of existing ground systems and assist in developing these concepts towards acquisition.
  • Evaluate new ground systems designs, methods of reducing technical, schedule, and cost risks, and new opportunities for integrating advanced concepts.
  • Understand risk management processes and methods for adjudicating program risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate across geographic diverse sites for delivery and acceptance testing; requires travel to these sites as well as to developer sites.




Minimum Requirements: 
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Bachelors and 9 years or more experience; Masters and 7 years or more experience; PhD and 4 years or more experience
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Experience in future ground architecture and modeling various aspects of satellite ground systems.
  • Experience with systems integration from factory testing to site implementation.
  • Experience with space-ground systems architectures and life cycle support.
  • Experience in organizing meetings, project coordination, and writing and reviewing technical reports is also expected.
  • Possess high organizational capabilities and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel overseas.

Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience for acquisition activities related to requirements development and assessment, technical evaluations of proposals, and ECP development.
  • Experience with systems development, verification, validation, and O&M for large systems.
  • Prior ground experience in a satellite program office.
  • Experience in coordinating government construction activities including MOU/MOA’s, Requests for Change (RFC’s), Site Survey coordination and activities.
  • Experience in NRO, IC, and DoD program management processes.
  • PMP certification.
  • CSEP certification.
