As a member of the IDS Engineering Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) team you will represent the company’s and customer’s best interests, assuring that product designs and processes are affordable, producible, and have optimized performance. In this role, you will work closely with diverse engineering teams to deploy DFSS methodologies throughout the entire product lifecycle. Using the DFSS technical elements listed below and analytical skills, you will help teams proactively identify problems (Risk and Opportunities), understand the underlying root cause, capture corrective actions, and verify that original problem is resolved.

  • Voice of the Customer Analysis (VoC)
  • Performance Modeling, Integration & Analysis
  • Cost Risk Analysis (CRA)
  • Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)
  • Statistical Test Optimization (STO)
  • Schedule RAACCE concepts
  • Supplier Partnering
Note: This position can be a Salary Grade G09 or G10 based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and the responsibilities required for the position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to programs/projects in the areas of the DFSS technical elements
  • Lead and participate in multi-functional teams in product and process improvement activities using general Raytheon Six Sigma Tools
  • Co-lead and support DFSS training activities
  • Track and report metrics related to DFSS project work
Required Skills:
  • 6+ years’ experience in Engineering
  • Possess knowledge of Measurement System Analysis (Gage R&R), Design Of Experiments (DOE), Regression Analysis, and Hypothesis Testing
  • Ability to lead root cause analysis, corrective and preventative action solutions
  • Experience with lean manufacturing concepts such as DFMA and Statistical Process Control
  • Experience in basic statistics analysis
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Experience in team facilitation
  • Existing Secret clearance or ability to obtain a Secret clearance within 90 days

Desired Skills:
  • M.S. degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics
  • Experience in continuous improvement processes such as Six Sigma and / or Lean Methodologies
  • R6s Expert or Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Experience with PCAT, @Risk, Crystal Ball, rdExpert, Pro Test, SPC_XL, DOE_PRO, or Minitab software
  • Possess analytical and strong problem solving skills.
  • Possess high energy, self-starting team player who is results based
  • Possess strong oral and written communication with interpersonal skills
  • Ability to apply data driven decisions, specifically relating to statistical analysis, to drive sound business decisions
  • Ability to build effective relationships through partnering and collaboration
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic and challenging, team-oriented environment
Education:
  • BS/BA in Engineering, Science, Technology or Mathematics (STEM)
