Description:Provide technical support and basic project engineering on R&D and Production contracts, including leading process improvement and lean manufacturing activities.
Act as primary technical contact to internal Program Managers and coating technicians as well as customers and vendors.
Design and fabricate products based on thin film coatings using a variety of deposition techniques, primarily Reactive Sputtering.
• Experience with various deposition techniques:
o Reactive Magnetron Sputtering (Required)
o Low Pressure CVD, Plasma-Enhanced CVD
o Ion-assisted E-Beam Deposition
o Ion Beam Sputtering, RF Sputtering
• Intermediate-to-advanced written and verbal communication skills
o Experience writing proposals and technical papers
o Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and colleagues at all levels within the organization
o Intermediate to advanced proficiency in common Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Experience leading projects meeting budget, schedule and technical requirements
o Experience as a project team member with responsibility for critical-path items
• Proficiency with Process Engineering and Project Management techniques and tools:
o Microsoft Project Scheduling
o Design of Experiments
o Statistical Process Control
o Lean Manufacturing/Lean Six Sigma
o Enterprise Resource Planning software or other MRP/MES software tools
• Familiarity with Surface Analysis and Thin-Film Analysis techniques/tools:
o Vis-NIR-IR Spectrophotometers (conventional and FT-IR)
o Advanced techniques including: X-Ray Fluorescence, Auger Electron Spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction, Variable Angle Scanning Ellipsometry, Atomic Force Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (including EDX), X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy
• Process Integration of thin-film articles involving multiple unit operations and moderately complex BOM; for example, MEMS or photolithography techniques
• Experience designing and fabricating optical interference filters within the wavelength range of 0.2 to 20 µm
o Expertise in one or more thin film design tools: TFCalc, OptiLayer, FilmStar, FilmWizard
