Position Description:
Opportunities currently exist within EDD's Test Development Department for a test equipment design engineer. The primary responsibilities will be the development and implementation of test capabilities leveraging a strong working knowledge of test equipment hardware and software technologies. This is an excellent position for a test equipment engineer who has a background in digital test, analog test, RF test, or power supply test and a desire to apply those skills to combined hardware/software test solutions.
You will be joining a diverse project team for the design and development of test equipment and test solutions for testing radar, sonar, communication, missile, combat control systems, subsystems and components for various programs within IDS. These products can contain Analog, RF, Microwave, Acoustic, High Power, and Digital Electronic technology and can also have Software (embedded, firmware, Signal Processing, VHDL, etc.). Test Development Engineers are involved from the beginning of product design as a concurrent engineering effort, continuing into supporting engineering design verification testing, production test and final system level verification and sell-off; includes in-plant or field testing. Typical test solutions include simulation, stimulation and data acquisition capability to provide stimulus and response test environments for verifying functional performance. Typical test systems encompass Hardware In the Loop Stimulators, Custom Automatic Test Equipment, Commercial Automatic Test Equipment, High Power, Mixed-Signal, Digital and Environmental Stress Screening systems, mechanical holding fixtures, adapters, and interface cabling and harnessing.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within one year of start date.


Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or B.S. in Electronic Engineering Technology
  • 8+ years’ experience in engineering design and development environment with 4+ years direct exposure to Test Equipment Design and Development tasks
  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Desired Qualifications:
  • Digital, and/or Analog, and/or RF, and/or power supply test hardware design experience
  • Use of Commercial Test and Measurement Equipment
  • VXI/VME/MXI/PXI/CompactPCI Application Development
  • CMMI and 6 Sigma Experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with VHDL a plus
  • Software applications / programming skills a plus
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
