Description

Accountant will be responsible for various accounting, analysis/reconciliation and compliance tasks, reporting to the Accounting Manager in SAIC Finance Shared Services. Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to: 
  • Contribute to the work performed in General Accounting.
  • Timely and accurate preparation of journal entries and other accounting analysis with required support to ensure accuracy and correct accounting interpretation. 
  • Reconcile general ledger account balances. 
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner. 
  • Extract, compile, and analyze financial data. 
  • Communicate as directed with internal and external entities and subsidiaries to obtain required information and respond to inquiries. 
  • Assist with periodic and quarterly reporting and SOX compliance requirements. 
  • Ensure compliance with all SAIC accounting policies, SOX and FAR/DCAA requirements. 
  • Maintain up-to-date process documentation for areas of responsibility. 
  • Recommend process improvements to create greater efficiency. 
  • Escalate unresolved issues to manager. 
  • Other special projects as assigned.


Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Business or Finance and 1-2 years of related experience, OR an accredited Associate's degree with 3-4 years of related experience, OR a valid High School diploma or GED and 7 years of experience are required. 
REQUIRED SKILLS: 
  • Professional Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel 
  • Superior oral and written communication skills 
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to identify/correct minor errors among volumes of data. 
  • Ability to positively and optimistically handle multiple, simultaneous projects in a deadline-driven environment. 
DESIRED SKILLS: 
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas/functions, etc.) 
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes–Oxley (SOX), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and/or Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA).
