Accountant will be responsible for various accounting, analysis/reconciliation and compliance tasks, reporting to the Accounting Manager in SAIC Finance Shared Services. Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Contribute to the work performed in General Accounting.
Timely and accurate preparation of journal entries and other accounting analysis with required support to ensure accuracy and correct accounting interpretation.
Reconcile general ledger account balances.
Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
Extract, compile, and analyze financial data.
Communicate as directed with internal and external entities and subsidiaries to obtain required information and respond to inquiries.
Assist with periodic and quarterly reporting and SOX compliance requirements.
Ensure compliance with all SAIC accounting policies, SOX and FAR/DCAA requirements.
Maintain up-to-date process documentation for areas of responsibility.
Recommend process improvements to create greater efficiency.
Escalate unresolved issues to manager.
Other special projects as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Business or Finance and 1-2 years of related experience, OR an accredited Associate's degree with 3-4 years of related experience, OR a valid High School diploma or GED and 7 years of experience are required.
Professional Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Superior oral and written communication skills
Keen attention to detail and ability to identify/correct minor errors among volumes of data.
Ability to positively and optimistically handle multiple, simultaneous projects in a deadline-driven environment.
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas/functions, etc.)
Knowledge of Sarbanes–Oxley (SOX), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and/or Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA).
