The Quality Inspector will inspect subassemblies, assemblies and components; perform inspections of materials and manufactured parts in accordance with inspection criteria using standard physical, and/or mechanical/electrical measurements and inspect and measure items for dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment and functional operation, according to drawings, company standards and other specifications using precision measuring instruments and devices.

The Quality Inspector will be tasked with obtaining and maintaining all process certification required for assigned tasks as well as troubleshooting inspection problems related to fixtures, drawings, paperwork, or process. The Inspector prepares and maintains inspection records; reports possible nonconforming material, parts, etc. per GIDEP and monitors for conformance to design or test specifications. Accept or reject material or articles; identify and document nonconformance and notify appropriate personnel of potential rejection of items. Discuss with or refer major or critical inspection problems or decisions to supervisor for disposition.

Electrical fabrication IAW IPC/WHMA-A-620, Class 3, and testing of single prototypes to full production of electrical/electronic assemblies to include, but not limited to: wire harnesses, electronic control units, control panels, junction boxes, and relay box assemblies.

Certified to IPC/EIA J-STD-001 Solder Standards.

  • Read blueprints and specifications
  • Monitor operations to ensure that they meet production standards
  • Recommend adjustments to the assembly or production process
  • Inspect, test, or measure materials or products being produced
  • Measure products with rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers
  • Accept or reject finished items
  • Remove all products and materials that fail to meet specifications
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products
  • Report inspection and test data

Desired Qualifications;

  • Ability to perform complex measurements and inspections for First Article, In Process, Final Inspections, etc.
  • Experience/knowledge with AS9102 First Article Inspection.
  • Experience/knowledge with the understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T) for inspection purposes per ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience using and programming Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) preferred.
  • Knowledge of AQL sampling selection per internal procedures or ANSI/ASQC Z1.4.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS 9100/QMS standards.
  • Knowledge of welding symbols (AWS/ISO) and non-destruction testing methods.
  • Knowledge of military standards and commercial specifications.
  • Extensive ability to read, interpret drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Experience/knowledge with special processes (e.g. anodizing, chemical film, passivation, heat treating, power coating, painting, etc.).
  • Experience with job travelers, certification of conformance, chemical and physical analysis reports and test reports (e.g. Certified Test Reports - CTR).
  • Experience with calibration of inspection equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, organization and ability to multi-task.

Extensive hands-on experience with inspection measuring equipment (e.g. micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
